(a) 4.5 cm downward

(b) 1 cm downward

(c) 2 cm upward

(d) 1 cm upward

Answer :  (d) 1 cm upward

Concept / Approach: Due to the glass the mark will appear to be shifted upwards. So the Apparent shift needs to be found.

\(AD = \dfrac{RD}{\mu}\)

\(AS = RD - \dfrac{RD}{\mu}\)

\(= 3 \left(1 - \dfrac{1}{1.5}\right)\)

\(= 1 \, \text{cm}\)
